Milestones

There have certainly been a lot of first around here lately. I feel like I should probably write them down lest I forget, which is often the case. Life seems to fly by most days. I usually feel like I am just trying to stay above the waves but am recently feeling like we are riding the waves and starting to enjoy it.

Life is full of adventure and growth.
Every moment is new.
Every breath is a gift.
Every smile should be cherished.
Every "I love you" said often and with a full heart, never taken for granted.
Every kiss should be precious.
Every hug given tightly with enthusiasm.
Every prayer never ceasing spoken in earnest.

Corbin started preschool. He was a little nervous the first morning walking into class but now is so excited to go and hates to leave at the end of the day. He goes three days a week and would probably go every day if we let him. He loves it. Mrs. Plaep and Mrs. Stromberg told me that he loves to explore and try new things. He is adventurous and outgoing. I can't wait to see what they think of Si next year. Boy are they going to have their hands full with the two of them!

Si is learning new words everyday. A month ago he was barely talking. Now it is non-stop. I wonder if Rollie will take after Casey is the talking area, certainly the other two don't. His current favorite phrases are: "I wanna go to Gamma's house", "I don know", "huggie", "I wanna hot-doggie", "thank you, honey". Yes, he calls me honey. I love it.

My sweet Rollie is finally getting his first tooth, well, two actually. He has these two cute little teeth coming in on the bottom. It is so fun to see his new little smile. I makes him seem so much older. He is walking along the furniture and starting to let go. Is it bad that I want to push him down? I just don't want him to be this big already.

Those are the new things for this week. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Snuggly Brothers

Today I am thankful that my boys love each other. They enjoy being together. They watch out for each other. They comfort one another.

They all wanted to be in bed together the other night and thankfully I had my camera handy. I try to keep it close so I can capture fun moments. But let me tell you, it is hard to get a good picture with three squirmy little boys.

But eventually you get there and get very sweet pictures.

Not Quite A Miracle

It has been a long and tiring journey at our house, these sleepless nights. I finally realized that it started when I was on bedrest, and yet the sleepless nights had nothing to do with pregnancy or even a new baby. It was my sweet 2 year old.

Every night, many many times every night, he would wander down the hallway and climb into our bed and snuggle right between us. And every night, we would bring him back to his bed. Only to be awoken moments later to the sound of his little feet on the way back to our room. Thankfully for me, he would start going to Casey's side of the bed and leave me alone. This wasn't working out so well for Casey though, he was exhausted every day at work. To make matters worse, Corbin would scream and cry if I tried to bring him back to bed.

Finally, after 6 long months, he stayed in bed. The entire night! And to top it off, he had a completely dry diaper this morning! I feel like we are finally making progress on this long road. I am praying that it continues and wasn't just a one night deal. But even so, one night of sleep helps. It gives hope and rest.

So, even though it feels like a miracle(and if you've been there you know what I mean), its not quite a miracle. But I'll take it anyway.

Conversations with a 2 year old

We were on way to grandma and papa yesterday for snowshoeing and dinner. Casey was meeting us there after work, so it was just me and the boys in the car.

Corbin: I want to go to the lake and see the boat
Me: Well honey, we can't today. The boat isn't in the water right now.
Corbin: Why, Mommy?
Me: Right now is winter time. In the winter we have to take the boats out of the water because the lake freezes.
Corbin: Funny, mommy. It freezes like a Popsicle! I want to eat the lake.

Is it really time??

I can't believe that my little boy, my very first born child is already 2. It seems like yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital and took this picture of him......

Time has flown by and he is now not so little. I am realizing that every day. He is learning in leaps and bounds. He keeps us on our toes. He is a climber and is very adventurous. Has very little fear and an insatiable love for life. I think he not only looks like his dad but acts very much like him too.

We have been very blessed that he is a good, no, make that great sleeper. He has been from birth. He was consistently sleeping 8+ hours at night by 4 weeks and has always been a great napper too. Until the last few weeks, he never tried to get out of his crib!! But then it started. It was a constant battle to get him to stay in bed. Once he was asleep, he was good to go but getting there became a challenge.

He recently spent the weekend with my parents. They took him "camping" for the day and he spent the night at their house. The second day during nap time, my mom was not home to put him down. The men had to figure it out. Anyway, he ended up sleeping in a regular bed! And he stayed there for his 3 hour nap with out getting out or falling out!!

So, it seemed apparent that it was time for the "big boy bed". He was asking for it and seemed ready.

He was so proud of his new bed........

He showed up how he was going to sleep like a big boy...........

And this is how he really slept..........

I love that he is hugging his pillow. Sleeping boys are the most beautiful sight in the world to a mommy!
